PARLIAMENT OF INDIA – Diverse Dimensions
I presented and dedicated first copy of my book “ Parliament of India- Diverse Dimensions “ to Hon’ble Speaker, Lok Sabha. This marks launch of my book on which I have been working for quite some time. . I am beholden to Hon’ble Speaker for this honour.
This book is a compilation of ten articles of mine covering the varied facets of working of Parliament of India, Parliamentary procedures, practices , membership related matters , rituals and conventions .
In this book I have endeavoured to dwell on minutely in depth on myriad aspects of India’s democratic polity and various aspects of Parliament , based on my experiences and impressions gathered as a parliamentary officer for more than 30 years and 25 years as Officer at the Table ( Lok Sabha).Through these ten articles I strove to cover a wide gamut of Parliament related aspects , hereto before not as such documented from a practitioner’s perspective .
These ten articles are : Functioning of Democratic Institutions in India; Parliamentary Expressions and Practices; Whips in Indian Parliament ; Status of Members Expelled from Political Parties; Nominated Members; Simultaneous Membership in Houses of Parliament /Legislatures; Managing Disruptions in the Indian Parliament ;Conflict of Interest; and A Day in the House( Lok Sabha).
I dedicate this book to the August institution of Parliament of India . I sincerely hope that this book would serve as useful reference source and manual for parliamentarians ; officers/officials of Parliament /Legislatures; academics , research scholars and all those interested in the diverse aspects of parliamentary matters .
